Supreme Head

President of the Islamic Republic of Iran is the Supreme Head of the four Academies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Board of Trustees of the Academies of IR Iran

The Academies of IR Iran have a common Board of Trustees whose combination is as follows: 
- First Vice President of IR Iran as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees
- Ministers of Science, Research and Technology; Health, Treatment and Medical Education; and Culture and Islamic Guidance
- Presidents of the Academies of IR Iran 
- Two scientists and experts proposed by each president of the Academies

Duties and Responsibilities of the Board of Trustees

• Approval of internal bylaws

• Approval of the Organization Chart of the Academies

• Review and approval of the proposed budgets of the Academies 

• Approval of the detailed budgets of the Academies

• Approval of the accounts and annual balance sheet of the Academies

• Approval of the method of receiving special revenues and their consumption 

• Appointment of auditor and treasurer of the Academies 

• Attempt to absorb the donations from the private sector and public revenues including cash, equipments and construction facilities  

• Approval of the financial and transactional regulations

• Proposing the extra allowances of faculty members and other staffs (experts and technicians)

• Determination of the managing method of production, service, workshop and health treatment units  

• Determination of the fees for research, teaching, translation, authorship, etc.

• Considering of the reports of the Academies

• Approval of the employment regulations of faculty members of the Academies

 

General Assembly

The General Assembly is composed of all the Fellows of the Academy. In accordance with the standard procedures of the Academy, a General Assembly meeting is held on a quarterly basis. The Associate Members may also attend the General Assembly but shall not have the right to vote. The Assembly is presided over by the President of the Academy.

Duties of the General Assembly

• Approval of policies and scientific programs of the Academy

• Approval of the executive regulations of the Academy’s scientific activities

• Nomination of eligible scholars for receiving rewards, prizes, scholarships, medals, and for being awarded sabbatical leaves; and referring their names to the Supreme Head of the Academy

• Election of Fellows, Associate Members and Honorary Members

 

President of the Academy

The President of the Academy is chosen from among the Fellows of the Academy by the proposal of the President of IR Iran and approval of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution by the written order of the President of IR Iran for a four-year term. The President of the Academy may be reelected.  
The President of the Academy serves as the official representative of the Academy before all governmental and non-governmental authorities, as well as natural and legal persons, and is responsible for the administration of the Academy’s affairs.
In 2023, by the vote of the members of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, Prof. Mohammad Reza Mokhber Dezfouli was proposed to the President of IR Iran as the President of the Academy and was subsequently appointed to this position by his written order.

Academic Council

The Academic Council of the Academy consists of the President of the Academy and the chairmen of the Academic Departments. Upon the approval of the President of the Academy, the Secretary of the Academy, the Vice- President for Research, and the Secretary of the Foresight Council of the Academy shall also attend the Council meetings. These meetings are held every two weeks. The Council is chaired by the President of the Academy.

Duties of the Academic Council
• Studies on policies and scientific programs of the Academy and referring them to the General Assembly for approval
• Preparing and proposing the executive regulations of the Academy’s scientific activities and passing them to the General Assembly for approval
• Specifying the duties of Academic Departments
• Studies and comments made on scientific projects and referring them to the relevant Academic Departments 
• Determination of major problems for researching, and recommending them to relevant scientific centers of the State
• Compilation of codes of awarding reward, prizes, scholarships and medals to eligible individuals 
• Studies and comments made on codes of promoting the quality of national and international scientific seminars, congresses and conferences and the evaluation of such symposia
• Performing other works referred to this Council by the Board of Trustees of the Academies, General Assembly and the President of the Academy

Secretary

The Secretary of the Academy is appointed by the written order of the President of the Academy.  
The Secretary of the Academy is responsible for managing of all administrative and financial affairs of the Academy, Recruiting the required staff for the Academy, Accomplishing the affairs referred by the General Assembly, President of the Academy and Academic Council 
On September 9, 2023, by the written order of Prof. Mohammad Reza Mokhber Dezfouli, President of the Academy, Prof. Mohammad Reza Shams Ardekani was appointed as the Secretary of the Academy.
