According to the Public Relations and Information Office of the Academy of Sciences, The World Science Day for Peace and Development, established in 2001 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Council for Science, serves as a reminder of the fundamental role of science in advancing peace, justice, and sustainable development. In today’s world, science is not merely a tool for understanding nature; it is a powerful force in the service of humanity and the flourishing of our planet. The basic sciences form the firm foundations of knowledge upon which innovation, modern technologies, and contemporary civilization are built. Iran’s scientific civilization was born from the depth of Iranian wisdom, a synthesis of reason, experience, and ethics. Pioneering scholars such as Al-Khwarizmi, Avicenna (Ibn Sina), Rhazes (Razi), Al-Biruni, Nasir al-Din al-Tusi, and others, by establishing the principles of theoretical and experimental inquiry and founding early academic institutions such as the University of Jundishapur, laid the cornerstone of global science. Their intellectual legacy rooted in wisdom, ethics, and a love of truth has left a lasting imprint on the development of modern science and continues to illuminate the path for scholars and scientists around the world. The Academy of Sciences of the Islamic Republic of Iran firmly believes that sustainable scientific progress is unattainable without strengthening and supporting the basic sciences. These disciplines are the sources of discovery, creativity, and the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge. Fostering a creative and committed young generation, and promoting a scientific mindset and research ethics within society, are vital for national advancement and for Iran’s active contribution to global scientific civilization. On this World Science Day, we reaffirm our shared responsibility to uphold truth, expand scientific collaboration, and employ knowledge in the service of humanity, peace, justice, and the integrity of our environment. May science remain the eternal light of wisdom, guiding us toward a world illuminated by knowledge and may our beloved Iran continue to shine as a beacon of wisdom, learning, and virtue in the world
