<div></div> <div>On January 17th, the Public Council of the Department of Engineering Sciences held a meeting at the Academy on "Air Pollution, Challenges and Solutions" with the responsibility taken by the Interdisciplinary Division of Environment.</div> <div></div> <div> </div> <div></div> <div>At first, Prof. Towfighi, Prof. Shayegan and Prof. Panjehshahi delivered speeches. Then Prof. Mohammad Soltanieh, fellow of the Academy, presented a report on "Air Pollution: A Major Local, Regional, and Global Environmental Challenge." In this report, the air pollution situation is depicted and solutions are proposed for controlling it.</div> <div></div> <div> </div> <div></div> <div>The meeting continued with Prof. Masoud Tajrishi’s reports on the special session of the Air Pollution Think Tank on Climate Change and Environment of the Academy on December 26th. These reports included the trend of air pollution, its health effects, clean air law, the role of monitoring in air pollution management, and an examination of the challenges of air pollution from the perspective of laws enforcement and the presentation of proposed solutions by the Islamic Parliament Research Center.</div> <div></div> <div> </div> <div></div> <div>Prof. Yousef Hojjat, the head of the Air Pollution Think Tank on Climate Change and Environment of the Academy, presented the statement of the Air Pollution Think Tank on Climate Change and Environment, emphasizing on "Data Mining of Air Pollution in Tehran."</div> <div></div> <div> </div> <div></div> <div>Prof. Ali Yousefi, on behalf of Eng. Dariush Gol Alizadeh, the head of the National Center for Air and Climate Change, Department of Environment, referred to the Laws, Regulations, and National Standards for Air Pollution and the reasons for their non-implementation.</div> <div></div> <div> </div> <div></div> <div>Prof. Sadegh Rezaian, the head of the National Center for Prediction and Management of Meteorological Hazards, Meteorological Organization, discussed the topic on "Meteorology of Air Pollution: Climatic and Environmental Situation in Iran" based on temperature inversion statistics and atmospheric stability in different regions of Iran.</div> <div></div> <div>Prof. Abbas Shahsavani, head of the Air Health and Climate Change Department, Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, examined the health effects and economic damages of air pollution in the country during 2016- 2023.</div> <div></div> <div>Hojat al-Islam Salman Behjati Ardakani also delivered a speech on "Air Pollution from the Perspective of Jurisprudence and Islamic Law."</div> <div></div> <div>Finally, a roundtable was held on air pollution and the practical solutions.
