Concluding a Memorandum of Understanding
A number of the members and officials of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences and the Senegalese National Academy of Sciences and Technics met with the officials and some members of the Academy of Sciences of IR Iran on September 30th at the Academy of Sciences.
 
The attendees of the meeting included Prof. Khalid Mahmood Khan, president of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Prof. Moctar TOURE, president of the Senegalese National Academy of Sciences and Technics and Prof. Ousmane Kane, member of the Senegalese National Academy of Sciences and Technics as well as prof. Mokhber Dezfouli, Prof. Salehi, Prof. Nadalian, Prof. Zohoor, Prof. Toomanian, Prof. Motevalizadeh, Prof. Zare, Prof. Vahdati, Mr. Farhadi, Ms. Sina and Ms. Shojaei from the IRI Academy of science. 
 
At the first, Prof. Khalid Mahmood Khan introduced the Pakistan Academy of Sciences and the Network of Academies of Sciences in Countries of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). He pointed out to the fields of collaboration between the two academies according to the memorandum of understanding concluded in 2022 and the need to implement its provisions.
 
Prof. TOURE also introduced the Senegalese National Academy of Sciences and Technics and expressed his satisfaction of the trip to Iran. He also conveyed his desire for bilateral cooperation with the Academy of Sciences of IR Iran within the framework of an MOU.
 
Then, Prof. Zohoor, Prof. Zare and Prof. Motevalizadeh delivered short speeches.
 
At the end, the guests answered to the questions posed to them by the audience.
 
At the second part of the meeting, the audience discussed and exchanged views on the global challenges such as food security, climate change, sustainable development, science education, natural hazards, society and culture, and emerging technologies (artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, biotechnology, etc.) as common challenges among countries.
 
It was also decided that Iran, Pakistan and Senegal together with other OIC member countries form a consortium and put joint projects in the mentioned fields on the agenda.
 
Prof. Mokhbar stated that the Academy of Sciences of IR Iran does not implement research projects and that policy-making and basic orientations are defined by the Academy which ultimately lay the ground for communication between Iranian and foreign scientists.
 
Finally, a memorandum of understanding was concluded between the Academy of Sciences of IR Iran and the Senegalese National Academy of Sciences and Technics.
