Honoring Ceremony of the World Future Day

The 8th honoring ceremony of the World Future Day was held on Monday, February 28th, 2023, on the eve of the World Future Day, by the Foresight Council at the Academy.

 

In the ceremony, Prof. Reza Davari Ardakani, president of the Academy and chairman of the Foresight Council; Prof. Ali Akbar Salehi, vice-president for research and deputy president; Prof. Seyed Mostafa Mohaghegh Damad, chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies; Prof. Hossein Namazi, chairman of the Department of Human Sciences; a group of fellows, associate fellows and invited scholars of the Academy; a number of authorities, professors and university faculties and activists in the field of futures studies participated semi virtually.

 

At the beginning, Prof. Fathollah Moztarzadeh, fellow of the Academy and secretary of the Foresight Council, welcomed the participants and referred to the role of the Academy in promoting the culture of foresight and the importance of holding the World Future Day ceremony. Then, he gave a report on the activities carried out in the Foresight Council.

 

Afterwards, Prof. Davari Ardakan gave a brief speech on “The meaning of future and the conditions for the possibility of foresight.”

 

The meeting continued with the following presentations:

- Global Developments in Science and Technology and the Future of Universities in Iran, Dr. Mohammad Hosseini Moghadam;

- Sustainable Learning for Tomorrow's Engineers, Dr. Hossein Sasani;

- The Role of Private Sector in the Advancement of Science and Technology, Prof. Soheila Salahshoor Kordestani;

- The Necessities of Forming a Sustainable Society, Dr. Saeed Moidfar;

- Future Challenges: Resources, Environment and Governance, Dr. Reza Maknoon

 

Finally, a question and answer session was held with the presence of the participants under the management of Dr. Maknoon.
