Second Meeting of the Foresight Council
On Sunday, January 26th, 2022, the second meeting of the Foresight Council of the Academy in the new term was held semi-virtually. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Davari Ardakani. The attendees included Prof. Salehi, Vice President for Research and Deputy President, Prof. Moztarzadeh, Secretary of the Foresight Council, Prof. Mohaghegh Damad, Prof. Moore, Prof. Ahmadi, Prof. Eslami, Prof. Nikbakht Borujeni, Prof. Momeni, representatives of the scientific departments, Prof. Bahrami and Dr. Maknoon as the members of the Council.
 
At the beginning, Prof. Moztarzadeh stated that according to the approval of the Foresight Council dated November 21st on the "Studies on the Status of Science and Technology in Iran", we invited speakers to deliver their lectures in ten minutes each. Detailed lectures will be given at the future meetings of the Secretariat of the Foresight Council.
 
Then the following lectures were delivered:
- Futurism, the Status of Science, Technology and Innovation of Iran in the Region and the World, Prof. Ahmad Shabani, associate fellow of the Academy
- A Glance at the Trend of Science and Technology in Iran in the 2nd decade of 21st Century, Prof Gholam Ali Montazer, Tarbiat Modares University
Afterwards, there was a discussion and exchange of views on certain issues and recommendations were made.
 
In his brief speech, Prof. Davari thanked the lecturers and the members for their comments. He emphasized that the contents of the lectures should be considered on the next World Future Day with regards to the importance of foresight and the important challenges of the country.
 
The meeting continued with the report of Prof. Bahrami, secretary of the next World Future Day, on the activities of the secretariat in relation to the upcoming World Future Day,
 
It was also decided to set up a sub-group of the Foresight Council, chaired by Dr. Maknoon and entitled "Studies on the Current Challenges of Iran and Foresight".
