<div></div> <div>By Prof. Davari Ardakani’s written order, Prof. Farid Moore has been appointed as the new chairman of the Department of Basic Sciences of the Academy for a two-year term. He succeeds Prof. Yousef Sobouti who served in this position for three consecutive terms.</div> <div></div> <div>Farid Moore holds a Ph.D. degree in economic geology, University of London, and is a professor of Shiraz University. He was affiliated with the Academy as an associate fellow from 2009 to 2013. He has been with the Academy as a fellow ever since.</div> <div></div> <div>Prof. Moore’s major academic and administrative positions are as follows: President, Iran University Press (IUP), Ministry of Science, Research and Technology; Director, Iranian Geological Society; President, Fars Science and Technology Park; Secretary, Supreme Council for Science, Research and Technology. Moreover, he has been a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals.</div> <div></div> <div>He is the recipient of Allameh Tabatabaei’s Award from National Elites Foundation and several other awards from Shiraz University. </div> <div></div> <div>Prof. Moore is the translator and author of more than 33 books and 200 scientific papers published in national and international journals.</div>
