Prof. Mohammad Reza Mokhber Dezfouli, president of the Academy of Sciences of IR Iran, during the Scientific Council meeting, congratulated the Iranian elite team on their championship at the International Mathematical Summer Competition (IMSC 2026) in China and their brilliant achievement in the International Physics Olympiad held in Colombia. Highlighting the necessity of supporting the nation’s scientific elite, the president of the Academy stated: ‘The conquest of scientific peaks by the country’s young elites is of great significance and must be duly valued.’ He further added: ‘These young individuals have once again demonstrated Iran’s scientific prowess to the world.’ It is worth noting that the Iranian National Mathematical Olympiad team, competing in the 4th International Mathematical Summer Competition (IMSC 2026) hosted by Beijing, secured the championship and first place among 49 participating teams from various countries, surpassing teams from Poland and Brazil, by winning 4 gold and 2 silver medals. The champion team consisted of Arian Zandi, Arsha Azizeddin, Seyed Amirhossein Tayyeb, Alireza Sharifi, Radin Nik Eghbali, and Ali Joonbakhsh Najafabadi. Furthermore, the Iranian National Physics Olympiad team achieved success at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2026), held from July 4 to 12, 2026, in Bucaramanga, Colombia, by winning 3 gold and 2 silver medals. In this competition, Hirbod Foudazi, Kian Zarabian, and Mohammad Mirmohammadi were awarded gold medals, while Nima Koushki and Amirsam Goharpay received silver medals. With this outstanding performance, the members of the Iranian team once again demonstrated the scientific competence of the nation’s students.
