The Department of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources began its activities in 1990, coinciding with the establishment of the Academy of Sciences of the Islamic Republic of Iran and in accordance with its statutes. Initially, the department was formed covering various fields of agricultural sciences, natural resources, and veterinary medicine, with 7 fellows and 65 associate fellows. Following the establishment of the Department of Veterinary Sciences within the Academy, this department has continued its activities focusing specifically on agricultural Sciences and natural resources. Currently, the Department 9 Fellows, 25 associate fellows, 51 invited scholars and 13 specialized divisions.
