The Department of Basic Sciences is composed of 16 fellows, 34 associate fellows and 32 invited scholars. There are five specialized divisions in the Department: Division of Biology, Division of Chemistry, Division of Geological Sciences, Division of Mathematical Sciences, and Division of Physics. Prof. Ali Akbar Moosavi- Movahedi is the chairman of the Department.
